Perhaps you don't want to spend a lot of money on fancy facial-care products. Maybe you're concerned about the ingredients in commercial products. Perhaps you just need to use up some stuff from your pantry. Whatever the reason, you might find it fun and beneficial to try out a facial remedy made from sugar, honey and lime juice. Each of these natural ingredients offers benefits to your skin.
Benefits of Sugar
Sugar is a popular ingredient in commercial skin products for a number of reasons. Sugar is a humectant, meaning it draws moisture to your skin from the environment, says Lather founder Emilie Davidson Hoyt. Sugar contains glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid that helps condition and moisturize skin and protect it from toxins. Additionally, sugar's small particles make an excellent exfoliant, scrubbing away dead surface skin cells and revealing fresh, healthy-looking skin underneath.
Benefits of Honey
Honey is another humectant. The sweet nectar offers antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that are useful in fighting acne. Honey has natural antioxidant effects, which can protect the skin from ultraviolet damage. Honey's viscosity will pull away impurities from the skin and help skin heal. Finally, the bees' sweet nectar offers anti-inflammatory properties that reduce fluid retention under the skin and minimize scarring, according to Science Daily.
Benefits of Lime Juice
Limes have astringent qualities, which can cause temporary tightening of muscles. When you apply lime juice to your skin, pores are made smaller and skin appears smoother. This can improve the appearance of your complexion. OrganicsFacts.net reports that lime juice contains vitamin C and flavonoids, which have antioxidant, antibiotic and disinfectant agents. The citric acid found in limes helps remove dead skin from your face, which is important to keeping your face clean and acne-free.
Make a Face Scrub
To make a sugar, honey and lime scrub, put 1 tablespoon of brown or white sugar into a small bowl. Mix in 1/4 teaspoon lime juice, then thoroughly mix in 1 teaspoon of honey. Gently apply the scrub to your facial skin, moving your fingers in small circles. Rinse your face with lukewarm water and carefully pat dry. Some people have an undesirable reaction to new things applied to the face, so test a small area of skin elsewhere on your body before you go all out with your new face mask.
Fantastic ideas should be shared. Here is a natural skin treatment i came across that was way too good to keep to myself. The good news is most of these supplies for the mask recipe you may already have and you can do it yourself. The preparation and purity of the materials along with the freshness of the mask is what makes this stand above all those other creams!
Combine this with some purified water vapor and you will look twenty years younger in no time. Even if your a guy above 25 why would you want to look any older? Don’t feel like you can’t do this because only women like to look younger. The video above is a simplified version though my recipe is a more effective facial treatment.
Here is a list of supplies to get started. I’m going organic as much as possible though if you can’t get organic for whatever reason no worries.
- Organic Oatmeal
- Organic Limes
- Honey harvested locally
- A heated vaporizer
- Super clean water for vaporizer and to clean face.
That’s all the ingredients you need. “I will throw in a few other optional items” though you can get started with just the 5 above.
Take 1 cup of oatmeal and blend the oatmeal into powder. Get some super clean purified water and add to a vaporizer you will use the steam to activate your pores and to open them. Be careful the steam can burn so use caution. If you don’t have a heated vaporizer you can get one at wall-mart for $25 dollars. I have the “Vicks vaporizer” where i can add essential oil for an added effect to the steam.
I like to use pure peppermint oil though for this practice i think an almond oil or sesame seed oil would combine perfectly with this routine. Sit above the vaporizer for at least 5 minutes moving your face all around to touch the vapor. Also you may have some other areas on your body that you would like to look younger. This remedy will work for most areas of your skin. Ok now back to finishing your mask.
Freshly squeeze the limes and add the lime juice to the oatmeal powder that you blended. Sit in front of the vaporizer one more time for a couple of minutes before applying the mask. Then when your pores are nice and open spread the “Lime oat mixture” with light pressure and do tight circle motions on your face. Does not have to be a thick layer. Leave this on your face for at least 5 minutes up to 15 minutes max. You may start to feel a burning sensation that is the fresh citric acid at work as the oatmeal is exfoliating your skin.
Take that purified water again using nothing but fresh clean waterand the movement of your hands to take off the mask. Now sit back in front of the vaporizer for a couple more minutes. OK now it is honey time. I like to use local honey as studies have shown that honey that is harvested closer to you is more effective in fighting infections. Start applying the honey in circular motions on your face and other areas you maybe working on. Leave the honey on for 5-15 minutes.
Now wash off the honey with only freshly filtered purified water. After you have removed the honey from your skin you now want to seal in your pores just use a chilled version of the filtered water to close your pores. Now you will see your face start to have more glow and a more tight smooth feel. Take a picture before you start this and take another picture a month later share with us the results here so we can see the difference.
A couple other things to do to protect your skin. Invest in a shower filterchlorine creates havoc on your skin. When you take a shower the chlorine also turns into steam and we breathe in these vapors. If you must go swimming apply a layer of sesame seed oil this will protect your skin.
Avoid any creams where you don’t understand the ingredients is a good rule of thumb. Beware anything that contains Paraben. The Parabens are usually used to preserve cosmetics and creams. These can actually have an opposite effect and cause wrinkles along with other illnesses.
